In 2010, Murielle’s mother made a difficult decision to place her in a ministry home and school in Port-au-Prince, seeking a better future for her daughter. Years later, Murielle’s transformed story became a vision for transformation. From one changed life, Grace for Haiti Children was born. Today, that vision continues as a movement of change restoring hope, creating opportunities, and helping children and families rewrite their stories, one life at a time.
My story is, in many ways, the story of countless children growing up in Haiti. I grew up understanding what it meant to live with limited opportunities and uncertainty about the future. Like many children in Haiti, I saw how poverty can affect a child’s access to education, nourishment, stability, and the opportunity to dream beyond their circumstances. My story began to change when I found support through ministry homes such as Rev Haiti. They gave me more than a place to live. They gave me a safe environment, community, guidance, and people who believed that my circumstances did not have to define my future.
In 2016, Amber H. took over the home, and that became another important chapter in my journey. Through education, mentorship, and opportunities to develop practical skills, I began to see possibilities that once felt out of reach. I learned firsthand the difference the right support and the right opportunities can make in a young person's life. Education became one of the most important parts of my journey. I've earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of the People in Colorado. Along the way, I also took seasonal summer work in Lakeside, Montana. My experiences showed me that creating change requires more than temporary assistance. People need access to the right tools, the right support, education, skills, and opportunities to build a future for themselves. That realization became part of the foundation of Grace for Haiti Children. Today, our mission is deeply personal to me. We exist to help create the opportunities that once changed my own life giving children and families the tools, support, and pathways they need to move forward. Through education, nourishment, youth development, skills training, job creation, and sustainable economic opportunities, we work to break barriers and create possibilities where too often there are limitations. I know what it feels like to have someone believe in you before you fully believe in yourself. I know what the right support can do. My story changed because someone created the space, opportunity, and support I needed to grow beyond my circumstances. Today, we work to create that same space for others building pathways to opportunity, strengthening communities, and helping shape a more empowered and sustainable future for Haiti. This is more than an organization. It is a continuation of a story that changed my own life. And our vision is simple "To equip one child, one family, and one community at a time with the tools, opportunities, and support to build a stronger future"
